Follow these steps to prepare for a career:

1. Self-Assessment.  Who am I?  Complete career exploration programs.  See websites such as YouScience, myFUTURE, ​and Occupational Outlook Handbook.
2. Research and Goal Setting.  Where am I going?  
3. Develop An Action Plan.  How will you get a job in your chosen career?  Learn about education and training needed for specific careers.  Also learn about resume writing, networking, and interviewing.
4. Get Practical Experience.  This could take the form of a co-op experience, an internship, an apprenticeship, a summer job, or volunteer work.
5. Search For A Job.
